Lamed-Heh – “…we tried… There were scattered limbs, arms, legs, head…almost the entire night we tried to match the bodies up…”

A Bravery Fiercer than Death: The 35 Heroes of Gush Etzion

Four month later the Etzion Bloc fell.  240 of its defenders were killed and 320 were taken prisoner.

The next day, on May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion declared Israel’s independence.

Following the Six-Day War in 1967, the children of the fallen returned to Kfar Etzion and began to rebuild the Etzion Bloc.

Today, the area is home to more than 20 communities and tens of thousands of Israelis.
