The following is from a Devar Torah of Rav Binyamin Ze’ev Kahane z”tl h”yd.
January 26, 2012: Gendron
issued the following press statement as reported by Global Montreal
: “It is important to make the distinction between the government and the individuals who make up the population.”
Gendron also issued the following statement to CTV Montreal
: “It’s sad to see certain groups distort comments concerning the way in which Israel behaves vis a vis the Palestinians into anti-Semitic comments.”
I have at times broached the subject of the Israel government’s policies. My views have elicited reaction from groups who support Israel. These groups have an inalienable right of freedom of expression that is so valued in Canada and Quebec. Some have interpreted my remark as anti-Semitic. I would like to clarify my remarks so as to eliminate all ambiguity.
Firstly, the Holocaust was an unjustifiable and inexplicable tragedy that one must never trivialize. Second, concerning Israel’s right to exist, my position has always been clear: Yes, the Jews have a right to self-determination as well as the right to a State.
For my part, I have always been in favour of peaceful cohabitation of peoples. That said, as an engaged citizen, I have the right to denounce the manner in which Israel conducts its policies with the regard to the Palestinians. I do not believe that denouncing the abuses of the Israel government is anti-Semitism. No one can deny my right to dream that one day Palestinians and Israelis will live together side by side in peace and security. This was my thinking which, unfortunately, could not be fully expressed in the restricted time frame of this morning show. I am sorry to those I may have offended. This chapter is now closed.”

The Jewish Defence League will continue to work with our supporters in Montreal to confront and expose threats to our community.

Zafar Bangash recently issued the following threat against the Jewish Community of Canada at a speech he gave in Hamilton, “…if there were an attack on Iran, and obviously the fact that Israel would be involved in it, [the] US would be involved in it, it is quite possible that, you know, members of the Jewish community might be targetted…. We will not want that to happen at all but, you know, you cannot control the emotions of the people.”
It is clear that Zafar Bangash and his supporters represent a threat to the safety and security of Jews in Canada. And the JDL will continue to confront and expose this threat.

In March, Israel Apartheid Week will take place in many cities in Canada. The JDL will continue to expose and confront this anti Jewish hatefest. And we need your help to get the job done right. Last year we held Islamic States Apartheid Week with much success. The JDL will expand its actions in Toronto, Montreal and Hamilton. It is indeed our hope, that major Jewish groups will follow our noble example and do what they get paid to do. Please take note of the following:
Disgrace: CIJA & B’nai Brith to participate in panel discussion with NEW ISRAEL FUND
The views of Stephane Gendron are not much different than the views of NIF. No Jewish Leader should sit down with the NIF. The NIF should be protested.
There is a lot of work to do and the enemies of Israel are working 24/7.
Join JDL now.
