After hard-fought battle, students celebrate divestment vote victory at UC San Diego

Submitted by Ali Abunimah on Thu, 03/14/2013 – 19:32
“After a hard fought battle, Students for Justice in Palestine at University of California, San Diego (UCSD) claimed a major victory last night when the Associated Student Council passed a resolution calling for divestment from companies profiting from Israeli occupation.
The result – 20 in favor, 12 against and 1 abstention – was announced to loud cheers, the video above shows.
The resolution, proposed by Students for Justice in Palestine, is similar to recent resolutions passed at UC Irvine and UC Riverside and names Boeing, General Dynamics Corporation, Hewlett Packard, Ingersoll-Rand and Raytheon among other companies that “profit from Israel’s military occupation and violence against Palestinians in violation of international law and human rights.”
The vote is not binding on the university, but is another indicator of growing support for divestment among students, which is why Zionist groups have vigorously opposed such resolutions whenever they have been proposed and have supported draconian measures to suppress student activism at the University of California  and other campuses.
The issue has been hotly contested at UCSD; last week, the Council postponed a vote on the divestment resolution that was due to take place after a marathon eight-hour debate in a packed auditorium.
Echoing false and inflammatory claims that have been made by opponents of divestment, UCSD senior Mikhail Imanovich had told the Council, “This marginalizes the Jewish students on campus and makes them feel unsafe and unwanted.”
The divestment resolution victory dealt a defeat to campus group Tritons for Israel that had organized opposition to divestment claiming it would be divisive.
Members of Students for Justice in Palestine refuted such accusations in the campus newspaper, arguing that, “All political issues are divisive. But already, UCSD is taking a side on this issue by having money invested in companies that are integral to maintaining the Israeli occupation. That is divisive.”
Zionist organizations had even marshaled the support of two members of Congress who wrote to the student councillors to urge a vote against the resolution.
It would seem that the arguments in favor of divestment won out against political muscle.”

The magazine of the authentic Jewish Idea

THE GREAT SABBATH

D I V R E I T O R A H  -  Nissan -5749 April-1989

It is the necessary, the indispensable preface and introduction to Passover. It is the explanation that cries out the ultimate message of the holiday, the basic lesson of the feats of our freedom. It is the foundation of foundations that raises Passover from an insipid, saccharine social custom beginning and ending with recipes printed in the New York Times women’s section; from a golden opportunity for Manischewitz to return to Jewishness through capitalist Passover profits even as the truly frum, raise their level of religiosity by raising the level of prices; from a Jewish people that marches on its Seder stomach even as it moves on to the annual national lie. “Next Year in Jerusalem.” It is the Great Sabbath, which attempts to save Judaism from myopic ritualism, to make the Jew, Jewish and the Orthodox, religious.

Sabbath Hagadol, the great Sabbath. The Sabbath preceding the Passover, the Sabbath that cries out the basic, the ultimate message of the enormous Exodus from Egypt, of Passover itself. Sabbath Hagadol that gives us the lesson without which Passover, the Jewish people itself, lose all reason for being. Sabbath Hagadol commemorating the basic lesson of Judaism: Faith, real faith, faith in G-d who really is greater than the mighty Pharaoh, or the regal Reagan or the burningless Bush – Sabbath Hagadol. The great Sabbath, that began more than 3,000 years ago on a Sabbath in Imperial Egypt.

“Speak unto all the congregation of Israel, saying: In the tenth day of this month, they shall take to them every man a lamb…”

It is a special, an awesome commandment, one that is given to every Jew, hence the unique words “Speak unto all the congregation.” Take a lamb and bind it up for four days.

You believe that this is a simple commandment. Hardly. The lamb is more than an animal; it is the very god of Egypt. It is a deity, a hallowed creature before whom the Egyptian bows and whose meat dare not touch his mouth. And the Jews, “every man” thereof, are commanded to take this lamb, this Egyptian god, the deity of their masters, and tie it to their beds, to their posts, bind it up. And when the astonished and outraged Egyptian masters will ask: “What are you doing? The answer shall be: We shall soon slaughter this lamb, the deity, your god, and eat it.

Do you still think this is a simple, bland commandment? It is a commandment fraught with danger to life, a commandment that surely sent fear down the spines of the Jewish slaves, that, without a doubt, led scholars to rush and ponder whether pikuach nefesh, danger to life might perhaps demand the postponing of the dangerous commandment.

Nor does the Almighty stop there. He insists on a policy of extremism, of goading the gentile. Not content with a commandment that cries desecration of the Egyptian god, that taunts him with the sight of his deity bound up, the G-d of Israel insists that the Jew add salt to the wound.

“And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roasted with fire… eat it not partially cooked, nor boiled in water, but roasted with fire, its head with its legs and with its insides complete.”

Awake and consider! This is what Passover is all about; only this! This is Judaism what Judaism is all about; only this! This is what the duty and the role and the essence of the Jew is all about; only this! To affirm to the world, but first to ourselves that the L-rd, the G-d of Israel, is. That He truly does exist, that He is the One, the only One, that He, only He, directs the world, the fate of man, the destiny of His people. That whatever will be for the Jew will be only because He so decrees. That the gentile has no relevance to the Jewish fate, that the Pharaohs of all time, the ones in Egypt and the ones in Washington are utterly irrelevant to what will be with the Jew.

On the Great Sabbath in Egypt, the L-rd taught us the lesson that we trampled in the dust, the dust of secularism and the dust of the yeshiva world alike: The lesson that the Jew must raise high, must flaunt the glory and Omnipotence of his G-d. That the world must be compelled to see their deities, their gods and idols, bound up and humiliated and destroyed. That one must goad the gentile in order to raise high the banner of the L-rd. That Kiddush Hashem, the sanctification of the Name of the G-d of Israel, demands an open, fearless, flaunting sacrifice of the idols and deities of the gentiles that deny the uniqueness of the G-d of Israel, His exclusiveness, His Oneness! The lamb is openly tied and those who tremble and whisper: “But we dare not goad the gentile,” are silenced with thunderous contempt. The lamb is slaughtered and roasted whole and fully and openly. It cannot be hastily covered in a pot where it will not be seen. Its identity cannot be disguised by cutting its body into pieces. We cannot escape the danger of the gentile by avoiding confronting and goading him. No. Precisely the opposite!

The same gentile who thundered and thunders: “Who is the L-rd? I know not the L-rd and will not let Israel go!” must be taught the eternal lesson of: “The L-rd is G-d, the L-rd is G-d!” The gentile does not wish to “know” G-d, to acknowledge His exclusive kingship. He must be taught that lesson in an open and bold and humiliating way. He and his idols must be humbled and broken. The lamb is taken openly. The lamb is slaughtered openly. And those who cringe in populism and whisper: “But one dare not goad the gentiles…” are silenced by the thunder of the L-rd, whose commandment is eternalized by the Rabbis of the Great Sabbath, Sabbath Hagadol. So, let that Sabbath be understood and appreciated and embraced. For without it, there cannot be a Passover, an understanding of what that Passover really is. And without that, when the Jewish child asks for the meaning of this night, the pathetic father who knows not what to tell him will doom his child to become a pathetic as he: practitioner of Jewish ritual, but never, never a religious Jews.

The time is late.

Iran and their proxies want to destroy Israel.

Jewish Defence League Pesach Message

Pesach is such a special holiday in the Jewish year. Yes, we sit with family and friends reading the Hagadah as well as eating a great meal. But there is more. We are called upon to reflect upon the lessons of the past and deal with the realities of today. President Obama spoke to a hand picked group of Jewish students in Jerusalem and asked the students to force the Israeli Government to surrender land. His policy would not lead to peace but war and misery.

It is my hope that all members of the JDL and our friends take to heart the challenge before us.

There are over SIX MILLION JEWS living in Israel today. The world wants Israel to be defenceless. The world allows Syria to kill over 70,000 people and turns a blind eye. President Obama says ‘it is not easy’. The kiling in Syria has gone on for over 2 years. If Israel gave up land, the world will also sit back and watch.

Please keep the faith and remember, the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish People because it is a promise from G-d.

Have a healthy and kosher Passover,

PESACH LESSON FROM RABBI MEIR KAHANE—-HIS WORDS ARE STILL TRUE

“And Pharaoh called to Moses, saying: Go and worship the L-rd. Only your sheep and cattle will remain – your children will also go with you. And Moses said: You will also give us offerings and sacrifices for the L-rd our G-d, and our flocks will go with us…” (Shmot 10:24-26)

The ninth plague-darkness – has struck Egypt with a vengeance and Pharaoh breaks. Step by step he has retreated and after the eighth plague – locusts – he was prepared to allow the Jews to leave except for their children. Now he surrenders almost entirely as he agrees that all the Jews can leave. He only asks one thing, one compromise, one small victory for himself, that the Jewish cattle remain behind.

Consider; the Jews have been slaves for 210 years. They have lived in misery and persecution. They suffered decrees such as the one casting their male children into the sea. They cried out unto the L-rd for freedom and salvation. Now, apparently the great moment has arrived! Pharaoh agrees that they shall go free! What does it matter that he asks for their cattle? Give it to him! The main thing is peace and salvation and we are willing to give up cattle for peace!

But Moses knows that this is not the purpose of the freedom of the Jewish people and of the story of the slavery and exodus. He is not prepared to compromise one inch because he knows what the purpose of G-d is. When Moses first entered the presence of Pharaoh and said: “The L-rd, G-d of the Hebrews, has said: Let my people go!” Pharaoh contemptuously answered: “Who is the L-rd? I know not the L-rd and will not let Israel go!” Here is where the battle was joined. Here is the purpose and aim of creation – to have the world recognize the dominion and kingship of the L-rd being challenged. Pharaoh must be made to recognize and totally acknowledge the sovereignty of the L-rd over him and his people. He cannot make compromises; he cannot strike bargains. He must submit totally!

“And I shall be glorified through (the defeat of) Pharaoh and his army and Egypt shall know that I am the L-rd.” Only the total defeat of the wicked can raise and honor the name of the L-rd, says the Biblical commentator Rashi. This is why there will be no compromise with Pharaoh. He must totally submit, he must totally surrender.

And even when he apparently does this, after the plague of the first born, when he runs to Moses and says: “Get out, take your flocks with you, just leave and ask the L-rd to bless me!” Moses refuses and in the words of the Mechilta; “And he called unto Moses and Aaron in the middle of the night and said: get up and leave! Said Moses unto him: No, we have been ordered not to leave our houses until morning. What are we, thieves that we should slink out in the night? No, we will leave only in the morning with an upraised arm before the eyes of all the Egyptians!”

Not one inch of retreat here. The lesson of the L-rd being the Omnipotent, king of the universe must be seen and acknowledged.

The lesson is an eternal one and must be learned in our time, too. The question of peace in the Middle East is a question of the Arabs and the world acknowledging the total sovereignty of the Allmighty. There can be no compromise on this. It is only a peace that comes with Arabs submitting to the yoke of the heavenly kingdom that will be a permanent one and the Jew who gives up part of his land as a compromise, violates the entire purpose of the rise of the Jewish State and the demand of the All Mighty that the nations acknowledge Him as King. There can be no retreat from land because that is in essence a retreat also from the Kingship of the L-rd.

Moshe Feiglin’s Knesset Speech on Pollard

Click here for the video of the speech, with English and all language subtitles.

Speech Transcript:

Honorable Chairman, my friends, Knesset Members,

First, I would like to thank Knesset Member Braverman who openly told us that at least during a certain time period, Jonathan Pollard remained imprisoned because that was also the will of people here, in Israel.

This is a very important statement, which was said in an offhand way. But in my opinion, it is certainly possible that this problem still exists.

Jonathan Pollard is not a traitor. We have to look at Jonathan Pollard through Jewish, Israeli, Zionist eyes. Jonathan Pollard is an Israeli agent. He performed a service for us. It is unthinkable that we should look at Jonathan through American eyes.

Jonathan Pollard is a hero; he is a hero of Israel. He is a hero who risked his life for us. And who knows how many of us he literally saved.

I have no intention of signing the petition for Jonathan Pollard. It is just meaningless words. It is lip-service. I have no intention of being dragged once again into processes that have nothing behind them. Similarly, in my evaluation, this petition will fade away when US President Barack Obama arrives here if we, the MKs do not take tangible action – and I intend to propose just such an action. With it, our loyalty to the person who we sent to risk his life for us will be put to the test.

Our brother, Jonathan, who risked his life for us as our envoy, was not the only one who ran to the Israeli embassy for protection on that bitter day 28 years ago.
His direct handler, Colonel Aviem Selah, also ran to the embassy with him.

The US forcefully demanded that both men – the Jew and the Israeli – be handed over to them.

We betrayed the Jew, and handed him over to his captors – the FBI agents waiting outside.

As far as the Israeli – we proved that when Israel wants something, it can certainly stand firm. Aviem Selah was not handed over – and a way was even found to bring him back to Israel.

On that day I understood that the State of Israel is not really the State of the Jews. Israel is the State of the Israelis. And from this denial of its identity and its foundations, my friends, Knesset Members, Israel is progressively losing the legitimacy for its very right to exist.

I have visited my brother, Jonathan, many times. When I saw him for the first time, I couldn’t stop my tears. It was awkward: He was the inmate, who, despite the terrible torture that he had endured, and that in order to maintain his honor, I will not describe here at the podium – he remained peaceful and calm, while I, a free lark, was crying like a baby.

Since then, Jonathan’s picture is on the front door of my house. One cannot enter the Feiglin Family home without remembering our brother, Jonathan.

The betrayal of Pollard continues until today. It is hard to believe, but the simple fact is that the prime minister then, the person who authorized the extradition and today serves as President of the State of Israel, until recently never officially requested Jonathan’s release. We often hear that Israel is doing its utmost. We heard that and we will continue to hear it. We will sign petitions. But an official request was never presented – until Prime Minster Binyamin Netanyahu did so after 20 years.

But the resolve is still missing. Our body language – and I am referring to the body language of the regime – not of the Nation of Israel and not of the Knesset Members, but the body language of those responsible, still says to the Americans, “Keep Pollard to yourselves, we don’t really want him here.”

The type of spying that Pollard conducted is carried out by US agents in Israel as a matter of course and is public information. Israel has the ability to demand and receive our brother Jonathan, if it wants. If we want.

In another two weeks, the President of the US will arrive in Israel and he will want to speak from this podium. Welcome to Israel, US President Barack Obama – with my brother, Jonathan Pollard.

But if you continue to imprison my brother Jonathan, you will have to speak to my empty chair. And I hope that more Knesset chairs than just mine will be empty.

I call upon all the members of the Knesset to take similar action and to prove that a new generation has risen in Israel; a generation that is not willing to continue betraying Jonathan, under the guise of meaningless diplomatic chatter. A generation of solidarity with every Jew. A generation that gives true meaning to the concept ‘the State of the Jews’ – the Jewish State.

A new alliance of on-campus ‘Palestine’ solidarity groups has been launched in Canada.

The Canadian Student Coalition for Palestine is hoping to build on recent triumphs by the campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel. Its formation follows votes by seven student unions in Canadian universities — including two campuses in the University of Toronto — to support the BDS call over the past year.

“There are Palestinian solidarity groups across Canadian universities, and though each group is fighting almost identical battles, we are each fighting alone, and now we have the opportunity to come together under a collective coalition,” said Sabrina Azraq, co-president of Toronto Students for Justice in Palestine.

Having launched the alliance at a conference in London, Ontario last month, organizers are already planning a follow-up assembly in Toronto toward the end of the year

‘Hitler should have killed all Jews’

Dutch TV airs shock interview with Muslim immigrants

Published: 24 hours ago

(The Blaze) A Dutch researcher was visibly exasperated during an interview he conducted with a group of Turkish Muslim immigrant teenagers when they repeatedly and unabashedly expressed to him on camera their hatred of Jews and admiration for Hitler.

During the interview that aired on Nederland 2 last month which has now been subtitled in English, the Muslim boys proudly describe how they feel about Jews, even though none appears to know any members of the Jewish faith. One even says, “Hitler should have killed all Jews.”

Their words are particularly troubling considering the majority of the country’s Jews were deported to concentrations camps during the Nazi occupation of Holland. The interviewer asks the boys what they know about Anne Frank, the Dutch Jewish girl famous for the diary she kept describing her life while hiding from the Nazis for two years in Amsterdam. At least one of the boys knew she died of typhus in a Nazi concentration camp.

2013 Israel Truth Week Conference:

The conference was very successful.  Video will be posted next week.  Two Rabbis from Hamilton boycotted the conference.  Len Rudner from CIJA did attend to his credit.  I spoke ad received a standing ovation.  As Iran moves closer to building a nuclear  bomb and Iran’s proxies continue to grow and take over the leadership in many Islamic communities, we have no time to waste.  The two Rabbis from Hamilton are an indication of a huge problem.  We must have people that are ready to step up to the plate.  This is not a game.  The mullah’s from  Iran dream of pushing the button and destroying Israel.

==============
And HASHEM said to Moshe, “I have seen the nation and they are a stiff-necked nation.” (Shemos 32:9)

A stiff-necked nation: They turn the back of their neck to the one rebuking them and they refuse to listen. (Rashi)
Several times – including in this week’s portion (Deut. 9:6) – the Torah calls Israel am k’shei-oref, a stiff-necked people. In today’s idiom “stiff-necked” means intransigent, unbending, rigid, can’t be budged, impossible to move.

On the one hand, Rashi and Sforno note that one who is stiff-necked cannot turn his face to the left or right. He is inflexible and therefore unwilling to consider different points of view. “They turn the stiff back of their necks toward those who would rebuke them and refuse to listen” (Rashi on Exodus 34:9). “Hence there is no hope that they will repent, but follow the stubbornness of their hearts as before” (Sforno on Exodus 32:9). After the building of the Golden Calf, God refers to the People Israel as am k’shei oref. Despite the warnings and rebukes from Moses and the prophets who follow, this stiff-necked people is not faithful to its God. The people are susceptible to idolatry and too stubborn to change their ways.

Commenting on am k’shei oref, Nachmanides agrees that being stiff-necked is a negative trait, but suggests that, nevertheless, it can earn positive results. He explains: “God is in their midst because they are a stiff-necked people” (Ramban on Exodus 34:9).

It is a negative trait for Jewish leaders to support anti Israel propagandaBernie Farber the former CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress recently sent out a tweet supporting a meeting held by JSpace.  At the meeting, the Jews present said that Israel practices a form of apartheid.  Two of the main speakers at this meeting serve  as adjudicators  for the Dispute Resolution  Committee for Pride Toronto.  And Bernie Farber wants the Jewish Community to place it’s faith in this sham of a process.  When Jewish leaders accuse Israel of Apartheid, this only gives more energy to those that promote Israel Apartheid Week.  Bernie Farber gives a green light to IAW.  The Ninth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week March 1 – 10, 2013 www.apartheidweek.org

Beyond Words -

Selected Writings of Rabbi Meir Kahane, -
1960-1990
Volume 5 1985-1988

I have always been bemused and amused at the delightful sight of gentiles attending Jewish religious affairs and being asked to don yarmulkas, there not being the slightest reason in the world for imposing headgear on a goy. (Fortunately for the Pope and the Jews of Rome, there will be no need for such a thing on his historic, exciting, breathtaking, joyful, spine-tingling visit to the Great Rome Synagogue since, as opposed to Alexander Schindler, the Pope always wears a yarmulke) nevertheless, the yarmulking of the goy, for me, has always been an apt symbol of American Judaism itself, especially on the part of the Moderdox. I refer to the taking, not of the gentile, but of the gentilization, and the yarmulking of it, i.e., taking gentile concepts, gentile values and turning them into “Judaism.”

One stands in sheer awe at the perversion of Judaism and Jewish values by the Hellenists, the gentilized and the Moderdox, in their desperate efforts to prove to the gentile and, of course, to themselves, that western civilization with all its secularized gentilized values, is Judaism.
.
They whip out their semi-verses, these semi-learned, and “prove” that evil is good and good evil, darkness light and light darkness (and is that not also a verse?).
.
Born into Western gentilization and denizens of the fleshpots of those values, they join to decry such “non-Jewish” concepts as vengeance, joy over the destruction of the enemy, basic difference in status between Jews and gentile, and the claim that democracy and Judaism are at opposite polls.
.
And so, what better time than Purim to shed a little light on the fog and dark ages of the Hellenists and Moderdox alike, for few holidays more clearly emphasize all the authentic Jewish values that the yarmulkasizers of the Jewish earth so desperately attempt to bury and forget.
So, if on Purim for the Jews there was “light and gladness and joy and honor,” let us indeed shed a little light on real Judaism as seen from the holiday itself.
.
Lesson One: We must never seek vengeance or be happy at the fall of our enemy.
.
(Megillah 16a) [When Haman came to lead Mordechai on the king’s horse] “He said to him: Get up and ride. Said Mordechai: I am weak from fasting. Haman thereupon bent down [to allow Mordechai to climb on him]. When he bent down, Mordechai kicked him. Haman then said: does it not say in your books ‘when your enemy falls, be not glad’?] (Proverbs 24:17)/ Said Mordechai: That concerns Jews [when a Jew has an enemy who is a Jew], but with you [gentiles] it is written, ‘And you shall trample on their high places’(Deuteronomy 33:29).”

What is the Talmud saying? One, joy over the fall of a gentile enemy of the Jewish people is permitted, more, it is a mitzvah. Indeed, the whole nature of Purim, the rejoicing over the death of Haman, the stamping of the feet at the mention of his name, is rejoicing over the fall of the enemy of the Jewish people. And that is because of the next lesson: that vengeance against the enemy of the Jewish people – an enemy that is per se, the enemy of the G-d of the Jewish people – is a joy and commandment because only through vengeance, through the fall of the enemy, is G-d vindicated. For the same enemy who crowed when success smiled upon him, “There is no G-d in Israel”, by his fall proves that there is indeed One! And what does King David say? “The righteous one shall rejoice when he sees vengeance, he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. And men shall say: There, indeed, is a G-d that judges in the earth!” (Psalms 58:11-12).

.
But what does that do to the Hellenist-Moderdox lesson? Answer: It destroys it. And at the Purim feast, as we rejoice in the vengeance against Haman, let us drink a toast to the demise, too, of this gentilized nonsense with the yarmulka perched on its empty head.
Lesson Two: Since all people are made in G-d’s image, they must be totally equal and treated with mercy.

(Megillah 11a): “Rabbi Levi would begin [his introduction to the Megillah] with the verse: “And if you shall not drive out the inhabitants of the Land [of Israel] from before you, they will be as thorns in your eyes’(Numbers 33:55).”

To the obvious question, what does this verse have to do with Purim, Rashi says: “So were these Jews of Persia punished because Saul had pity on Amalek [and allowed their king Agag to live].”

What is the Talmud saying? It is emphasizing that the mitzvah to drive out the inhabitants of Eretz Yisrael was a Divine, Jewish commandment and that failure to observe it would lead to punishment. It teaches that a similar injunction to wipe out Amalak, also brought down Divine wrath in the era of Purim, because it was not followed. In short, in the struggle against the enemy it is a mitzvah to fight without mercy, for as the Rabbis say: “When you go out to battle against your enemy, know that they are the enemy and not your allies. As they would have no mercy on you, have not mercy upon them” (Tanchuma, Shoftim 15).

But you say, does this not contradict the teaching of the three L’s that we must always have mercy on all people? On our enemies? The answer is, yes, it does contradict it. Because there was never such a teaching in Judaism. Mercy and pity are reserved for people who are not our enemies. For those who are, Purim teaches us something very different.

And a final less from Purim:

The Rabbis ask (Hullin 139b): “Haman min haTorah minayin?” (“Where is there a hint as to Haman in the Torah?” And they answer from the verse (genesis 3:11): “Ha’min ha’eytz asher tziviticha l’vilti echol mimenu achalta?”(Have you eaten from the tree from which I forbade you to eat?”)
.
The obvious question is: Why in the world must there be a hint of Haman in the Torah when Haman’s story occurred long after the Torah was written? And more – because the word “Haman” and the word “ha’min” sound alike, what is the connection between them?
.
The answer is, what the Rabbis are really asking is: Where in the Torah is the lesson of Haman hinted at?And the answer is that G-d, in His totality of wisdom, placed a word that sounds like “Haman” into a Torah passage that carries with it that central lesson. The passage is G-d speaking to Adam and chastising him because he disobeyed the one law that G-d gave him. He followed the dictates of his own heart and cast off the yoke of Heaven. And this, indeed, is the central lesson of Purim: The whole rise of Haman, his threat to wipe out the Jews, the near-Holocaust, came about because the Jews refused to obey G-d’s law – the wiping out of Amalak.

And of course, they disobeyed it because of ethical and moral reasons! Of course, it was because they could not believe that Judaism would ever countenance such a thing! And so, the Rabbis tell us that all that night Saul fought with himself, saying: “If the men, why the women; and if the women, why the children; and if the children, why the animals?” (Pirkei d’Rabbi Eliezer 43). Saul, a Jew who had his own ethical sense of values and concerning whom the Bible thunders: “Do not be overly righteous” (Ecclesiastes 7:16) – “Do not be more righteous than your Maker …” (Kohelet Rabbah 7). The yoke of heaven! Whether we “agree” with a mitzvah or concept or not. This is the central lesson on Purim. This is where Saul failed.

How many Sauls are there today! The Sauls of the world still live, good people, righteous people, more so than their Maker.
And they too will bring down on us Divine tragedy.

Parashat Terumah – The holiest object on earth – Rav Meir Kahane

“They shall make an Ark of acacia wood” (Ex. 25:10)

G-d established the whole framework of a holy Temple, holy objects and holy people (Kohanim and Levi’im) to create a miniature world, perfect and complete, holy and pure.
It was meant to symbolize the larger world and to guide us in how our world is supposed to look. One of our most important principles is: “To the L-rd belongs the earth and everything in it”(Ps. 24.1). Everything belongs to G-d, and nothing that ostensibly belongs to man is really his. Rather, it is only given to him to use. The concept of holiness provides a concrete example to help us understand the essence of property here on earth – that it belongs exclusively to G-d and not to man.

The destroy Israel BDS panel hosted by Brooklyn College last week and co-sponsored by its political science department continues to spark controversy, almost a week after the event.  Credit must be given to the Jewish students that attempted to stop this anti Jewish hatefest.  Bernie Farber, the former CEO of the Canadian Jewish Congress had hoped the Jewish students woud just ‘shut up’. Bernie M. Farber@BernieFarber  Bloomberg’s friendly advice to pro-Israel, anti-BDS protesters: shut up!http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/west-of-eden/1.501909 …

Because the Jewish students refused to ‘shut up’, the hatefest was exposed Algemeiner Audio Prompts Threat of Justice Dept. Investigation Against Brooklyn Former Special War Crimes Prosecutor for the US Dept. of Justice Neal Sher and CUNY trustee Jeffrey Wiesenfeld are holding a press conference today calling on Brooklyn College to adopt new policy changes in light of recent events surrounding a BDS (Boycott, Sanctions and Divestment) event aimed at Israel in which four Jewish students complained of being unfairly singled out and then removed from the audience.

Recent audio released by The Algemeiner appears to contradict original claims by Brooklyn College officials that the students were being disruptive throughout the first speaker’s address. The incident is especially egregious taking into account that the school’s Political Science Department co-sponsored the event.

Sher said he plans on calling on the Justice Department to open an investigation into the school’s conduct if it is unwilling to take responsibility and address the issues that led to the students’ eviction.

“It seems rather clear that school officials simply didn’t tell the truth about what happened,” says Sher.”It seems to me the students were unfairly removed from the event and when a stink was raised they just made up a story,” he added.

“Federal civil rights law, under Title VI, gives Jewish students the right to be free of a hostile environment and here you have a case where a university’s actions created a hostile environment. If there’s student harassment of Jews you have to take action.”

A Brooklyn College spokesman told The Algemeiner Wednesday that the audio file had been given to investigators and would be used as part of an inquiry the school has launched. The spokesperson declined to comment further.

Hagel Confirmation Blocked

Breitbart.com
Big Government
2/14/2013

The Senate has failed, 40-58, to pass a motion by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to close debate on the nomination of Chuck Hagel to the post of Secretary of Defense. A Republican filibuster held, as Democrats failed to muster the 60 votes necessary to pass cloture and move to a full vote on Hagel’s confirmation.

New evidence emerged Thursday of speeches that Hagel had given in 2007 and 2008. The former included endorsement for a U.S. consulate in Iran, and allegedly also included a comment accusing Israel of controlling the State Department. The latter, a speech to the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) in 2008, was not disclosed to the Senate Armed Services Committee as requested, and was produced by the ADC today.

RelatedReport: Hagel Said State Department Controlled by Israel

In a March 2007 speech at Rutgers University, Chuck Hagel said that the U.S. Department of State was an adjunct of the Israeli foreign minister’s office, according to a contemporaneous report of the event. The contemporaneous report consists of notes by Republican political consultant and Hagel supporter George Ajjan, who wrote about the speech on his website the following day.

As a Hagel supporter — then (Hagel was testing the waters for a presidential run) and now (Ajjan says he still would support Hagel for president) — Ajjan had no reason to give a false report on what Hagel said. Moreover, Ajjan stands by his report. “If I wrote it, then that’s what happened at the time,” he says…

An anti Israel pro Iran web site operating in Canada stated the following regarding Chuck Hagel:

The Israeli lobby and Hagel: Shooting oneself in the foot.

Posted on February 12, 2013 by

Israeli lobby

The Israeli lobby is known for its duplicity and deception. It readily stabs in the back anyone it regards as disloyal to Israel, American interests be damned. A point in case is Obama’s nomination for Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. Hagel is a former Republican Senator and a decorated Vietnam veteran. He is widely admired by the American people.

Not that Hagel is good for America. Hagel is no saint. He wants to continue to kotow to Zionist/corporate interests by perpetuating an American foreign policy that depends on war to fill up its coffers and keep the people from focusing on the nauseating corruption of the capitalist system. He voted for the Iraq invasion, he voted for the invasion of Afghanistan, he voted for the patriot act, he recently said that “all options are on the table” for Iran etc. However, as far as the Zionist lobby is concerned he is not a 100% submissive because he had the temerity to say that he is an American Senator not an Israeli Senator and that the Zionist lobby intimidates politicians.

The Israeli lobby knew it couldn’t publicly oppose the popular Senator for fear of vindicating those that say it tries to unduly influence the political system and for fear of angering the people for blackballing a popular American.

So what did the Israel lobby do? In lieu of openly opposing his nomination and allowing their detractors to paint them as bullies, Zionist backers with deep pockets have set up a covert campaign of slandering Hagel to oppose his nomination. They spent millions sending out anonymous robocalls and other underhanded tactics that slander Hagel. One such organization, the Republic Jewish Coalition was caught in the act. The fact is that the Israel lobbyists are smart and deceptive. However, their manipulative and over controlling nature may have gotten the better of them in this case. Instead of remaining silent and allowing the nomination to go through, they tried to scuttle a nominee who is pretty much pro-Israel and anti-Iran. The Zionist lobby’s favorite Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz came across as rude and arrogant as they berated Hagel for his disloyalty to Israel during Senate confirmation hearing. Hagel will win the nomination anyway making the Israeli lobby look like bullies who couldn’t get their way. It seems the Zionist lobby’s biggest enemy is their own arrogance and paranoia.

National officials, press barons, journalists, Internetians, “Human Rights” agencies, public intellectuals and a growing segment of the vox populi are tapping increasingly into the poisoned aquifer of anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist feeling. Yet what is perhaps even more disconcerting is the comparable attitude of many in the Jewish community today, mainly of the Left, who have made common cause with their enemies, defamers and traducers. There is not much question that what we are observing is a pathology of the first magnitude, what the Talmudic sages called sin’at akhim, or brotherly hatred, an element of Jewish life sufficiently pronounced to merit a name of its own. This book redresses the cowardly rise of Jewish self-hatred.

Beyond Words - Selected Writings of Rabbi Meir Kahane, 1960-1990 Volume7

A JEWISH HEART

“There is a time to love, and a time to hate.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1,8

“There is a time to live in time of peace and a time to hate in time of war . . . there is a time to kill in time of war and a time to heal in time of peace.”

(Vayikra Rabbah 3)

The total contradiction between so much of Judaism and Western, foreign cultural Hellenism could not be more evident than in the case of the heart transplant last November in Israel. Then, the heart of a Jewish soldier, murdered from an ambush in the Gaza Strip, was placed in the chest of an Arab“Palestinian,” Hanna Haddad. And how the non-Jewish world exploded in joy! And how the perversion of authentic Jewish values and concepts came crashing down in the sickly need to win favor in the eyes of the nations and to feel the comforting warmth of self-righteousness. And how all the anti-racists privately and not so privately purred with pleasure at the “Jewish heart” that is so “unique” and that climbs mountainous deeds of ethics and morality that no one else could. Indeed.

Not only have Jews lost every sense of authentic Judaism, falling prey and victim to all the foreign and gentilized misvalues of Hellenism, but thanks to the debilitating effects of an abnormal exile, they have lost all sense of normality, too. Consider: The widow of the murdered soldier blesses the act. Yossi Sarid writes an article that begins: “How is it possible not to write about Ze’ev Traum’s heart, transplanted into the chest of Hanna Haddad – may he live a long life . . . “

“We do not have a Jewish heart and they do not have an Arab heart but a personal human heart, and if we follow our embroiled nationalism we harden our heart, we make it as hard as Pharaoh’s heart.” And Sarid concludes: “Those who have the heart saved one soul and filled an entire world with hope.”

There were pages and pages and speeches and speeches of similar paeans of praise for the humanity shown by Jews. And the story became the very symbol of the“Jewish heart” that transcends enmity and hatred and war, that saves the life of a man who hates the Jewish state and dreams of its destruction. No matter! The Jew is not supposed to hate the enemy; he is above that. So the conventional wisdom of the gentilized Jews of Hellenism.

It is hardly new. In Rosh HaShana messages to the Israeli soldiers, both Defense Minister Rabin and Chief-of-Staff Shomron – men deeply rooted in ignorance of Judaism –sent messages of profound Hellenism and madness to the Jewish soldiers facing an enemy filled with venomous hate for the Jews and deep passion for the day when the Jewish state will cease to exist. Rabin said: “Alongside your obligation to crush all attempted violence, you must always remember that the people against whom you struggle today are the same people that in a few months or years we will wish to live with in peace, to be good neighbors.” One struggles to recall a similar message to the Allied troops in World War II concerning the Nazi armies . . .

And the Chief-of-Staff told his troops” “In the difficult and complex daily work, we have succeeded, except for minor exceptions, in preserving the basic values and ethics of the I.D.F.” Meanwhile, of course, that by giving the soldiers orders that tied their hands; the killing of the Arab enemy was kept to a minimum while guaranteeing the continuation of the Arab rioting.

And when General Yitzhak Mordechai concluded his term as commander of the southern sector (that included Gaza), he said: “Personally and as a commander, I wish to express my sorrow over every one in the area who was killed or wounded from the (I.D.F.) activities that were necessary.” No, there is nothing to say.

But to return to the “Jewish heart,” and to ponder the depths – the sheer depths! – of Jewish psychosis. On the day of the funeral of the soldier who was murdered and whose heart was given to a member of the nation that murdered him, a Jewish contractor named Yehuda Yisrael told how, one year earlier, in December 1988, his brother lay dying, attached to a machine. The family had 24 hours in which to find an available heart. And this is what Yehuda Yisrael told Ma’ariv (Nov. 11, 1989): “At that time in the (Arab East Jerusalem Hospital) Al Mukassed, there were two young Arabs wounded in the intifada and they were already clinically brain dead. We contacted the Arab doctor in an attempt to have him get us a heart, but he refused. When we saw that it was not working, we offered a great deal of money . . . . “The heart was never given and the brother died.

But there is more to the story. Yehuda Yisrael, whose brother died because Arabs would not give a heart to the Jewish enemy, continues: “I am happy that Hanna Haddad found a Jewish heart donor. It is a humanitarian gesture. It is good that the world sees Jews prepared to contribute a heart to the Arabs, too, even in these sad times. The fact that they would not give a heart to my brother only proves that we are more humane than they . . . . “Or perhaps . . .

And as a final point in this descent into the Jewish snakepit of insanity, the same article by Yossi Sarid described how he had been asked to find a heart for the same Jew (presumably he was asked because he is such a good friend of the Arabs). Sarid pleaded with his Arab friends but they would not give the heart. As Sarid quotes the Arabs: “Those killed in the intifada are martyrs, martyrs of the entire Palestinian nation, and their heart already belongs to it . . . .”(And in addition, what normal Arab would give a heart to save the life of a Jew, his deadly enemy who took his land from him?)

The tragedy of our times is the loss of Divine Jewish values, one of which is the obligation to hate evil; to hate the enemy. We have – thanks to the gentilized values that have swallowed us up – lost our sense of indignation against evil, forgotten to hate it with a passion. And because of that, good people die even as we allow the evil ones to live, flourish and kill them.

Hanna Haddad, the “Palestinian” is part of a nation that wishes to destroy Israel and commit horrors on its Jews. He sees the Jews as thieves, as robbers who stole “Palestine” from his people. He sees the Israeli soldiers as oppressors, and he sees Jerusalem, where he lives, as his city, just as he sees Jaffa, Haifa, Ramla, Lydda, Acre, the Galilee and the Negev. He supports the intifada; he wishes the “fighters” success; he takes pride in the rocks and firebombs thrown by the brave young “Palestinians.” And Jews give him a heart to save his life, a heart taken from a Jewish soldier murdered by Hanna Haddad’s brothers. And Jews cheer and weep tears of happiness over this humane act that only proves that a “Jewish heart” is better than the hard Arab one . . .

We are mad. Would anyone dream of doing such a thing for a German during World War II? Of taking the heart of an American soldier from Sioux City killed in battle by Germans and giving it to a German to save his life? No American or Frenchman or Englishman or Russian or anyone remotely normal would have considered it! Only the Jew, in pathetic and deeply disturbed need to win the love of the Arabs and the world, does it and attempts to cloak his insanity in “Judaism” and “Jewish values.” Not only are we mad, but un-Jewish, gentilized, Hellenized perverters of the authentic Jewish Idea and halachic.

To hate the enemy is a mitzvah, for nothing less than that will give us the understanding that evil must be fought to the end, and nothing less than that will give us the strength and confidence that we are right and that our war is just. And when the Rabbis speak of “a time for war and a time to hate” – what do the gentilized Hellenists of our time think they mean? And what are the voices of the Moderdox from the West Side and Beverly Hills to tell them? To tell themselves?

“You who love the L-rd, hate evil!” That is the injunction of King David, the sweet singer of Israel, in Psalms 97:10. And in the words of Ibn Ezra (ibid.): “the L-rd is judge, therefore you who love Him, hate every man of evil and be not afraid of them, for the L-rd alone preserves His pious.” And again, David in Psalms (139:20-22): “They speak against You wickedly and Your enemies take Your Name in vain. Do I not hate, O L-rd, those who hate You? And do I not contend with those who rise up against You? I hate them with the utmost hatred; I regard them as my own enemies.”

There is a time for war; there is a time for hatred. And at such a time it is a mitzvah to hate, a mitzvah to go to war, and the one who refuses – violates the mitzvah, abhors G-d who created morality. “When you go to war against your enemy . . . (Deuteronomy 20:1) Why does it say‘your enemy’? [since obviously one goes to war against an enemy and not a friend].Said the All Mighty: ‘Go against them as enemies! Just as they do not have mercy upon you, so do not have mercy on them’” (Tanchuma, Shoftim 15). That is Judaism.

Do not be “better” than they, since in the end you will not be better but deader. And certainly do not be “better” than the All Mighty, who commanded you to be cruel and merciless against those who rise up against you and against G-d, “for whoever rises up against Israel is as one who rises up against the Holy One, Blessed be He” (Mechilta, B’shalach).

And the Sifri (Shoftim 192): “Against your enemies [you go to war] and not against your brothers, neither Yehuda against Shimon nor Shimon against Yehuda who, if you fell into their hands, would have mercy on you . . . but against your enemies you go to war, who would not have mercy on you.”

And Eyleh ha’Dvarim Zuta: You go to war against your enemies. If you have mercy on them, they will then go to war against you. It is similar to a shepherd who, while tending his sheep in a forest, found a baby wolf. He had pity on it and nurtured it. His employer saw it and said: Kill it; do not have pity on it lest it be a danger to the sheep. But he did not listen and so when the wolf grew it would see a sheep and kill it, a goat and eat it. Said the employer: Did I not tell you not to have pity on it? So did Moses say:‘But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the Land before you, then those whom you will allow to remain of them will be thorns in your eyes . . .’ (Numbers 33:55).”

That is Judaism. That is authentic Judaism. And true Judaism looks upon every member of an enemy nation as an enemy, unless he proves that he is not. Yes, there is collective punishment in Judaism.

An Interview with Rabbi Meir Kahane,

Kahane Magazine, April 1978, p.22

There is a truth, a Jewish truth that no one speaks today. The Jewish Idea has been corrupted and silenced. There must be one person who is prepared to speak the entire truth in the truthful way. No one else speaks about the holocaust that must grip the Galut; no one else speaks about the need to remove the Arabs from Eretz Yisroel; no one else says that to depend on the Americans will not bring salvation but rather Divine punishment; no one else ways that if the government of Israel will not annex the lands, Divine Punishment will again strike us; no one else says that we must defy the government if it defies Jewish law; no one else speaks as a Jew, and with the Jewish Idea. That is my obligation. If I have support and if I have followers, well and good. If I am able to build an organization, so much the better. But if I have to be alone and shout out the lonely truth in that way – that will be my role.

Conversation between Rabbi Kahane and the soldiers of Israel

“Why do you have to give us such a hard time?” asked one soldier. “I am not the only one who gives you a hard time,” I replied, “you are the ones who are breaking the law. The law says that a Jew must live in Eretz Yisroel and settle everywhere, and you prevent it.” “The only law that we have is the government, and you are violating it.Besides, we want peace and you are destroying the chances for peace.” “And you really believe that by giving up Sinai and giving the Arabs Judea and Samaria, you will have peace? Don’t you remember how they went to war when they had the Sinai and Judea-Samaria?” The soldiers had now gathered around me and one said: “But things are different today!” “How do you know?” I shot back, “Why do you risk the state by trusting an enemy that started four wars?” “We have to gamble! It is impossible to keep on fighting. I am willing to take the risk.” It was clear that this was the view of most of the soldiers, almost all of whom were irreligious.

“I’ll tell you,” I said. “If you really want to gamble, trust me – not the Arabs. I tell you that if you will all put on tefillin for a month, the Messiah will come. And if you gamble on tefillin and the Messiah does not come, what have you lost?”

. . . Tomorrow would be Friday, Begin was coming home. At the airport he would be greeted by thousands of cheering Israelis and he would cry out to them: “I have brought you peace!”Voices. Voices. Voices. From yet another airport; from yet another Prime Minister; to yet another cheering crowd. “I have brought you peace in our time . . .”It was Chamberlain coming home from Munich. The bus started up and the settlement had come to an end. This time there was no singing.

“The Second Revolution,”

Jewish Press, October 20, 1978

While no other Prime Minister used the name of G-d, Begin mouths it and then gives away Jewish rights because Jimmy Carter, in his eyes, is more real. Fear of being isolate? Trembling at the fact that no newspapers supported Israel? Worry over the loss of allies? The redemption of the Jewish people will come with the greatest grandeur precisely when Israel is isolated! And these are the words of the Prophet Isaiah as he envisioned the final redemption, words we read in the synagogue on the week before Rosh Hashanah; words that were mouthed without listening to them or understanding them. The Prophet speaks of the anger and vengeance of G-d against Israel’s enemies:

“I have trodden in the winepress ALONE, and of the nations THERE WAS NONE WITH ME. . . For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redemption is come. And I looked and there was none to help . . . therefore has My own arm brought salvation . . .” (Isaiah 63:3-5)

Not through Jimmy Carter are we saved, and not through allies and gentile salvation. Begin, who gave into pressure, is no better than all the others whom he so bitterly criticized when he was in opposition. Fear of the gentile has taken precedence over the awe of G-d. That is the heart of the problem. That is why Begin brought home, not peace, but war. For peace will only come when He who creates and grants peace will agree. That agreement can never come in response to violation of Torah and to Hillul Hashem.

Perhaps a final note. All that I have written would have been bad enough. But there might have been some mitigation had Begin, at least stood before the people gravely, sadly, in sorrow and said: “This is a black day for us. But we had no choice.” I would have differed with him then, too, and been angry. But at least we would have been spared the sight of a huge and happy welcome at the airport – so strikingly similar to the return of Chamberlain. At least, Begin might not have pretended that he had brought us good tidings and peace. At least, he would have been honest.

After nearly seven years of fighting against incredible odds to confront the Ontario government’s illegal ‘peacekeeping‘ mission in Caledonia alongside Gary McHale, I am so very pleased that the Canadian Taxpayers Federation will award Gary the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in honour of his dedication to that struggle:

Said Troy Lanigan, President of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation about honouring McHale with the medal:

“The more we thought about it, the more we saw that people who should be recognized wouldn’t be recognized,” he said. “These are the kind of people we wanted to recognize. They’ve challenged the status quo. Gary McHale fits the bill. He has fought, in our view, for the equal application of the law and the execution of court orders. He’s taken some risks and some beatings over this, both literally and figuratively.”

McHale to speak at 2013 Israel Truth Week Conference, Hamilton

I am also pleased to announce that Gary will be speaking at the upcoming Israel Truth Week Conference at Victory International Church in Hamilton, March 5-6. You can watch his mesmerizing speech from last year’s conference here after he is introduced by emcee Stuart Laughton as ‘one of the most disliked men in Canada’:

The JDL & Act For Canada Present:

An Evening With Gavin Boby, from the Law & Freedom Foundation, U.K.

Wednesday, February 6, 2013 7:30 p.m. sharp
Place: Toronto Zionist Centre
Address: 788 Marlee Road (just south of Lawrence Avenue)
Metro line: Lawrence West subway station (University Line)
Cost: $10.00 at the door; students free

,

Gavin Boby is a British lawyer who specializes in town planning law. He runs The Law and Freedom Foundation, dedicated to preserving a lawful society that protects freedom. Their first project is a legal effort to assist community groups, on a pro-bono basis, if they are faced with inappropriate planning applications for more mosques in their neighborhood. They focus on legal procedure but also on the nature of Islamic doctrine and as a result have won 16 out of 17 cases.

The National Post just disclosed that a Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s (CSIS) reportstated that “a large number of venues” that are used by “Islamist extremists” are “radicalizing Canadians” across Canada. In this Canadian context Gavin Boby’s message is even more relevant.

The Muslim Brotherhood, operating in Canada, just purchased a 10,000 square foot building in a Montreal neighborhood. On record, this will be the 4th real estate acquisition in a very short time span. Last fall, the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) was also involved with the establishment of a new Mosque in Quebec City that also needed rezoning. In Edmonton, the Lessard community countered the establishment of a MAC run school in their neighborhood for fear of radicalization. Again, several zoning laws have already been transgressed by the local MAC- run Mosque and in several new Saudi and Muslim Brotherhood linked Mosques that have been built. InOttawa, MAC is also administering several venues, one of which is the Abraar school that made international headlines because “two teachers (…) who praised a pupil’s essay about killing Jews with hand grenades” were suspended.

Why should we be concerned about the Muslim Brotherhood operating in Canada? The former Chair in Islamic Studies at the University of Alberta described how the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood “hoped to change the status of the Mosque, bringing it from a static place of worship to a center of Islamic revolution. “(pp. 76-77)

Youssef Qaradawi unconditionally endorsed by leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood operating in Canada describes the role of the Mosque in these words: “To guide public policy of a Nation, raise awareness of critical issues and reveal it’s enemies. From ancient times the Mosque has had a role in urging Jihad for the sake of Allah.”

This will be a very special evening so please mark your calendars!

And now from the anti Israel blogs in Canada:

.

israel’s shameful attack on Syria

Keeping up with its criminal history of aggression and oppression, the terrorist of israeli air force attacked Syria yesterday with full support from the United States. While the attack shows the impunity with which the zionist regime is able to conduct its criminal activities it also shows israeli desperation in terms of the failure to change the regime in Syria. The zionist hijacked the legitimate process of reform in Syria by unleashing tens of thousands of mercenaries. However, after trying for over a year and despite over 60,000 deaths and millions displaced the puppets have not been able to achieve the desired objective so now the puppet masters are entering the battlefield themselves.

Zionists attack freedom of speech over a cartoon

.

.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013/jan/28/sunday-times-antisemitism-israeli-election-cartoon

The cartoon accurately depicts the prime minister of israel building a wall with Palestinian blood. Rather than condemning the cartoon, Jewish organizations should condemn the brutal oppression of the Palestinians by the Zionist state. The bullying of the press by the Zionists around the world is only going to work for so long. The world has refused to buy the story that because Europeans killed Jews, Zionist Jews have a right to kill Palestinians. If zionists do not like cartoons accusing them of crimes against humanity then they should stop expelling, injuring, oppressing and killing Palestinians.

Parashat Beshallach – Mercy for the cruel? – Rabbi Meir Kahane

The water came back and covered the chariots and the horsemen of the entire army of Pharaoh, who were coming behind them in the sea – there remained not a one of them. (Ex. 14:28)

.

“The ministering angels sought to sing G-d’s praises [when the Egyptians drowned at sea]. G-d responded, ‘My handiwork is drowning at sea and you would sing?’” (Megillah 10b) Who can retell the distortions of G-d’s valor perpetrated in recent generations! The deliberate distortion of “My handiwork is drowning in the sea”, as if we must glumly avoid gladness when our enemy falls, has become the steady fare of those who consume the alien culture [of the secular Western world]. G-d, Merciful Father and Creator of all life – righteous and evil – certainly does not sing or rejoice when His evil children die. Despite their wickedness, they are still His, and what father will rejoice at his son’s death, even if that son be the most evil on earth? All the same, G-d does not hesitate to kill His handiwork, as when He drowned the Egyptians. He does not sing; He does not rejoice; but he drowns His handiwork at sea. True, He, Himself, neither rejoices nor allows rejoicing or song in Heaven, but others, the Jewish people, He does cause to rejoice. In fact, He requires them to sing. Our sages said (Mechilta, Beshallach, Mesechta Devayehi, Ch.2): “The L-rd will fight for you” (Ex. 14:14): That is, “Will G-d perform mighty wonders for you while you just stand in silence?” Israel asked Moses, “What should we do?” and he responded, “Extol and exalt! Sing the praises, glory and majesty of the Master of all warfare, as it says, ‘Let the high praises of G-d be in their mouth’ (Psalms 149:6)”… Israel then opened their mouths and sang G-d’s praises.

.

Because of their arrogance and wickedness, G-d drowned His handiwork in the sea and commanded Israel to sing praise and thanks to G-d, so as to inform the world that “The L-rd will reign forever and ever!” (Ex. 15:18).

.

Forgiveness and love for an enemy? Mercy and sorrow over his death? Here is Midrash Avchir, quoted in Torah Shlema, Ex. 14:31, letter 210: “Israel saw the great work” (Ex. 14:31): When G-d wished to drown Egypt, Uza, Egypt’s angelic prince stood before G-d and said:”Master of the Universe! You have been called righteous and upright…Why do you wish to drown the Egyptians?” … Just then Gabriel rose up, took a mud brick and stood before G-d saying, “Master of the Universe! Shall You have mercy on these who so harshly enslaved Your children with mud bricks?” G-d immediately retracted, judging them strictly and drowning them in the sea.

.

Sorrow over the death of the evil? Over Israel’s enemies? The Torah’s very defining good and evil in real, absolute terms constitutes a declaration of war against the [contemporary secular Western] culture of the nations and of the Hellenists [secularized Jews] who adopted it. That culture preaches that no one absolute good or evil can be determined, since all ideas and concepts, including those defining good and evil, are the product of human thought. Both those who deny the existence of a Supreme, Omniscient, Omnipotent G-d Who is the source of wisdom and truth, and those who admit the existence of a Supreme Being yet deny Torah from Sinai, i.e., that G-d set forth a blueprint in the Torah, hold that we cannot attach special status to one “good” over another.Tolerance and pluralism are the ultimate principles of that alien culture. Since followers of that culture cannot determine with certainty what evil is, they cannot eradicate it from the world. Mercy toward the cruel is not a good trait. Quite the opposite, one is duty-bound to separate oneself from the evildoer even if this is a difficult step, and even if it appears cruel. The cruel, wicked person will influence goodness and corrupt it. There can be no coexistence between evil and upright people – only separation.

.

The mitzvah of eradicating evil from our midst requires us to hate it, as in Psalms 97:10, “Those that love the L-rd hate evil.” It is the duty of him who loves G-d to hate evil and evildoers, for they are G-d’s enemies. Nonetheless, in the alien [contemporary secular] Hellenist culture, the themes of love and hatred have been so entirely distorted that it is a terrible crime to speak of hatred as a halachic duty in the right time and place. False love finds a hundred different ways to overlook evil. Advocates of that culture have transformed all such traits as cruelty and revenge into an evil that must be shunned. Such is not the Torah’s way…

.

G-d, Creator of the universe and all that it contains, also created attributes, ethics and values. He created anddefined them, assigning every single trait its time, place and purpose. As King Solomon said (Eccles. 3:1-8): To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to dance; a time to cast stones and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away; a time to rend and a time to sew; a time to keep silence and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.

.

Everything has a season. There is a time for every attribute and value. G-d created them all and assigned each a purpose, place and time. There is a time to love – but also a time to hate. Anyone incapable of hating those who G-d commanded us to hate is a sinner and heretic and he brings destruction to the world. In the final analysis, if someone does not know how to hate properly, he cannot love properly. Whoever is unready for war in the right time and place, mandated by G-d, is a sinner and heretic precisely like someone unready for peace.

.

G-d, Who created the world, understands “the minds of His beasts” (Prov. 12:10) in all their detail. He, Who understands and listens, examining man’s inner recesses, knows that there is a place for mercy, peace, love, kindness and forgiveness, but simultaneously a place and a need for “cruelty”, so to speak, for war, hatred, killing, uprooting wickedness from the land and destroying evil from the world. What would one not do to save and defend one’s household, family and friends from their enemies, to rid their world of danger, to frustrate the evildoers’ designs?

.

What would one not be ready to do to the evildoers themselves? Precisely with this in mind, G-d, Merciful Father of the universe, gazed down and saw the danger posed by evil and wickedness threatening His righteous dear ones, innocent of all wrong. He understood that it is an unpardonable sin to take pity on those of whom it says, “Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness” (I. Samuel 24:13), thereby facilitating their cruel treatment of the righteous and innocent. Whoever takes pity on an evildoer, leaving him free to treat the righteous with cruelty and abuse, is not merciful but cruel. Anyone incapable of hating evil and evildoers can never love the righteous. The death of the wicked is infinitely preferable to the death of the righteous, and eradicating evil is infinitely superior to eradicating good.

.

Quite the contrary, when G-d destroys evil and evildoers, He is not showing kindness just to the righteous and innocent but to the evildoer as well. He does a kindness to the evildoers when He removes them from the world, for He thereby prevents their doing evil and increasing their sins. This represents a great gift from G-d which lightens their punishment in the Afterlife.

.

We find this regarding Enoch, of whom it says, “Enoch walked with G-d, and he was not, for G-d took him” (Gen. 5:24). The Midrash comments (Bereshit Rabbah 25:1): “Enoch was a hypocrite – sometimes righteous and sometimes evil. G-d said, ‘Let Me remove him while he is still righteous.’” This is the true, definite meaning of our sages’ utterance above, “The death of the evildoers is beneficial to them and beneficial to the world.”

.

It is beneficial to the world because the evildoers stop oppressing it. It is beneficial to the evildoers because G-d is saving them from themselves.

.

G-d established a time and place for love and for hate, and in the right time and place, each is a duty and a commandment. The Torah never contained, and never will contain, a concept of “groundless love”, just as the Torah absolutely rejects the concept of “groundless hate”. In G-d’s attributes, nothing is “groundless”. Rather, there is a clear reason for all required behavior – with love and hatred warranted in their time and place. It is our duty to carry them out lawfully and as commanded, without, G-d forbid, confusing them.

Announcing the Ninth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week: March 1 – 10, 2013

.

Mark your calendars for Toronto’s Ninth Annual Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW), coming up March 1st – 10th!
.
First launched in Toronto in 2005, IAW has grown to become one of the most important global events in the Palestine solidarity calendar. Last year’s IAW was incredibly successful with 216 cities participating. The Israeli Ministry of Public Diplomacy even dispatched “envoys” around the world in an attempt to undermine the week.
.
This year, Palestinians have endured another massacre on Gaza, the enlargement of settlements, and daily growing brutality by Israel. Hence our role in the international community to support the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is more important than ever. This year’s IAW will highlight many faces involved in the Palestinian struggle, from the periphery and the centre, from the diaspora to diplomats, Indigenous groups in solidarity to Palestinian professors, highlighting the many levels of resistance to apartheid.
.
IAW 2013 will also take special care to voice the narrative of the changing regional context. Around the world, people are standing in solidarity with each other in struggles for democracy, equity, human rights and economic justice. The resolve of Palestinians as they continue their 64 year struggle against colonization, occupation and apartheid has provided inspiration for movements struggling for freedom, justice and equality around the world. Palestine, too, will be free.
.
IAW 2013 Toronto Highlights:

.

  • Crystal Lameman: Beaver Lake Cree First Nation activist and the Peace River tar sands campaigner for the Indigenous Environmental Network in Alberta
  • Razan Ghazzawi: Frontline Syrian blogger and activist
  • Screening of Roadmap to Apartheid with Cinema Politica at the Bloor Cinema!

*JDL* Parsha & Weekly Update – Week of Jan 13-19, 2013 – Shevat 2-8, 5773

January 18, 2013

The Torah Parsha this week is Parshat “Bo”.
Exodus 10:1-13:16
Torah Reading for Week of Jan 13-19, 2013 – Shevat 2-8, 5773

***
Exodus 12:1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying: 2 ‘This month shall be unto you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying: In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household; 4 and if the household be too little for a lamb, then shall he and his neighbour next unto his house take one according to the number of the souls; according to every man’s eating ye shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year; ye shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats; 6 and ye shall keep it unto the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at dusk. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel, upon the houses wherein they shall eat it.
.
Our Sages explained that the lamb was a very important diety in Egypt and the Jewish People where commanded to take that diety and to tie it up to their homes in public and to slaughter it four days later. And the reason they waited four days was because all Jewish males where to be circumcised and required three days to heal.
 .
The Jewish People were also commanded, “And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel”. The Sages also explained that the blood from the Jewish males that were circumcised was mixed with the blood from the lamb and was put on the two side posts. This commandment was called the Korban Pesach.
 .
It is vital that we grasp the incredible self sacrifice of the Jewish People then in standing up to the evil enemy which was Egypt. And these are lesons that are as important for us  today.

Killings in Pakistan, a Zionist Plot?

Posted on January 17, 2013 by

“If the Zionists want us to stop blaming them, then they should stop oppressing, expelling, imprisoning, injuring and killing the indigenous Christians and Muslims of Palestine to make room for the Zionist settlers. They should also stop influencing the US foreign policy towards their geo-political goals and strategy as that is taking a very high toll in human lives and suffering” – Organizers for the protest against Pakistan killings.

A small group of Canadian Muslims held a protest on January 14, 2012 against the killings in Pakistan. The poster published for the protest included a statement “Long-Live Shia Sunni Unity, Down with Zionist Plots”. The poster triggered a response from the most powerful Zionist organization in the world, B’nai Brith, which is credited with the creation of the Zionist state of israel. It is an organization with a long and dark history.

MuslimPerspectives.com got a chance to interview one of the organizers at the protest rally. These are the questions we asked Syed Rizvi:

What is the purpose of this protest rally at the Pakistani consulate in Toronto?

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent the most merciful. The Shia and Sunni Muslims of GTA have gathered together to jointly express their extreme anguish and sorrow at the ongoing killings in Pakistan by foreign funded terrorists. The Shias and Sunnis have been holding joint protest rallies across Pakistan and we held one here in Toronto to express our solidarity with the victims of this senseless violence and to condemn the shameful inaction by the government of Pakistan which appears to be helpless in front of these foreign-funded murderers.

The poster for the protest mentioned Zionism, what is the relationship between Zionism and the killings in Pakistan?

Many in the west believe the killings to be a sectarian issue which we strongly reject; Shias and Sunnis lived together in Pakistan in peace between 1947 and 1979, before the Islamic revolution of Iran. The Islamic revolution of Iran was the single biggest defeat suffered by United States and Israel in the Middle East and a geopolitical strategy was planned to contain the Islamic revolution of Iran from spreading in the region. Extremists which existed on the fringes of the society were sponsored and trained to execute this strategy. The United States government whose foreign policy supports the strategic Zionist interests, funded and supported Saddam’s war against Iran which resulted in killings of millions of Shias and Sunni Muslim across Iran and Iraq and resulted in martyrdom of Ayatullah Baqr-us-Sadr and Ayatullah Sadiq-us-Sadr, who had openly announced their complete support for Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Islamic revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_support_for_Iraq_during_the_Iran%E2%80%93Iraq_war ). The US brought and fully supported General Zia-ul-Huq in Pakistan, who is considered the father of sectarianism in Pakistan. They funded extremists in Afghanistan to fight against the Soviet Union (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2CE0fyz4ys) ; University of Nebraska developed books for Afghan children that taught them how to count by counting dead Russian soldiers and encouraged violence (http://watanafghanistan.tumblr.com/post/16302949941/these-books-were-gifts-and-aid-from-us-for) , now they have unleashed their puppets on to the civilian population of Pakistan to promote sectarian strife and contain the Islamic revolution of Iran from spreading to Pakistan. The Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LEJ) claimed responsibility for the recent massacre in Quetta; it is the same LEJ whose telephone numbers were found on the CIA chief, Raymond Davis’s cell phone when he was arrested. (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/8340999/Raymond-Davis-was-acting-head-of-CIA-in-Pakistan.html)

We have seen the Zionists use the Southern Lebanese Army (SLA) in Lebanon in exactly the same way. SLA which was created, funded and supported by the Zionists, committed horrific war crimes and tried to achieve the Zionists’ objectives through the most brutal and horrendous terrorism. Today we have seen LEJ use exactly the same tactics in Pakistan. However despite using SLA and causing tens of thousands of deaths including massacres of women and children (http://www.endtheoccupation.org/article.php?id=196 and http://english.pravda.ru/world/asia/16-09-2012/122177-impunity_massacre_israel-0/) the Zionists suffered a shameful defeat in Lebanon and they will Insha Allah suffer another defeat in Pakistan as well. I was watching the Pakistani sit-ins live and saw the relatives and attendees of these victims, the Shias and Sunnis of Pakistan, standing shoulder to shoulder and constantly raising slogans against the unholy alliance of the Pakistani government, United States government, the Saudis and the Zionists. A number of western journalists have written extensively about this alliance (http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/03/05/070305fa_fact_hersh). There is ample evidence in history for the imperialists using the divide and conquer approach but thanks to our leadership the plot to divide us will not work. Today, despite constant propaganda by organizations like Sun TV, Fox News, National Post and other israeli mouthpieces, the Zionist state is as lonely as it has ever been. The largest church in Canada adopted a resolution to boycott them and 174 nations passed a resolution against them in the United Nations (http://muslimperspectives.com/?p=823)

How can you claim that the US foreign policy is controlled by the Zionists?

This is a fact that anyone with access to internet can easily research and verify. Do you see the US presidential candidates going to England, Canada, France or any other allied country and pledge their allegiance to them before elections? Do you see an equivalent of AIPAC run by another country? The US safeguarding of Zionist interests in the world is not a hidden secret.

What would you say to the Muslims that may not agree with blaming the global forces for the massacres in Pakistan and would like to focus on local and regional actors only?

If you hit an animal with a stone, it will not go after the stone; it has the intellect to come after you. Our intellect demands that while condemning the puppets we also condemn the puppet masters. We very strongly condemned the Pakistani government and the Saudi governments as well. Just because the Zionists are calling it a conspiracy theory has no bearing on the validity or accuracy of the facts. Look at the individuals condemning this protest, BlazingCatFur, a person consumed by Islamophobia who detests everyone else who does not agree with his racism and bigotry. As an equal opportunity hater, he continuously tries to prove that the Muslims, Christians, blacks, liberals and non-Zionist Jews should all be hated for not supporting israel. Michael Coren, another Islamophobic racist who proposed dropping a nuclear bomb on Iran and B’nai Brith the organization that created Israel and has caused insurmountable misery to millions of Christians and Muslims of Palestine and other countries which oppose the zionist state. If these characters are condemning our little protest, we must have done something right!

What is your answer to those that would say that considering the Zionist influence in the media, it does not help to expose this link as it is not easy to explain and requires research and understanding?

The CIA and Mossad have multi-billion dollar budgets, their strategies and schemes are not always very simple. I would strongly recommend reading a book by Stephen Kinzer, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, http://www.amazon.com/All-Shahs-Men-American-Middle/dp/047018549X and asking yourself if the budget for these intelligence agencies have reduced or increased from the 1950s? Unfortunately the pulpits of many of the mosques in Canada are occupied by scholars for dollars or unqualified orators who have superficial or no understanding of the complex set of circumstances faced by the Muslim world today. However, senior scholars in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, Bahrain and other countries, who practice what they preach and are not focused on getting visas and earning money in the west are constantly asking the Muslims to educate themselves about these issues and understand the geo-political environment. That is the reason that senior Ulema leading the rallies against the massacres in Pakistan raised the slogans against the United States and Israel in addition to Saudi Arabian and Pakistani governments. The scholars for dollars will have us believe that we should be grateful to US for removing Saddam, the true scholars will point out that it was United States that funded and supported Saddam throughout the war and that we should not have amnesia and a myopic, simplistic view of the world being propagated by American news channels. We will be doing a disservice to the ones who died in these incidents if we do not identify the real culprits behind these massacres. Sectarianism has always existed but today the killings in Pakistan are directly tied to containing the Islamic revolution of Iran from spreading in to neighbouring countries. The Zionists have seen the effects of the Islamic revolution of Iran spreading to Lebanon and the shameful defeat they suffered from a few thousand part-time resistance fighters, they have seen the effects in Gaza; they cannot allow the 30 million Shias of Pakistan to join the 70 million Shias of Iran or the 120 million Sunnis of Pakistan to get inspired by the Islamic revolution of Iran and have them compare the lifestyle and philosophy of Iranian leaders with the Pakistani leaders. They have unleashed a reign of terror exactly in the same manner as they did with the SLA in Lebanon and are sponosring disinformation campaigns in the media. If we do not educate ourselves about it and do not expose them than we are playing in to their hands as well. We have a right to peacefully protest and propagate our views with evidence and facts. We can then join hands with other Christians and Jewish and human rights organizations that oppose the oppressive Zionist regime and try to contribute towards creation of a world where people can live with respect and dignity and peace and where all lives, whether they belong to a Jew, Christian, Muslim, Canadian, Pakistani or any other nation, are valued and cherished.

Last question, what do you think will happen to the Zionists?

One of the reporters from the Jewish Tribune asked us the same question and I will give you the same answer that my colleague gave her. Zionism is an oppressive and racist philosophy, based on the premise that the Zionist settlers have a right to oppress the people living in Palestine so that they can settle down in the holy land. We have no problems with them believing that they have a right to live in Palestine; it is the reprehensible manner in which they have chosen to implement this so-called birth right that we and the world strongly condemns. The end of Zionism cannot be any different from Apartheid. The Palestinians of West bank and Gaza are not going to disappear, the Christian and Muslim Arabs living within the Zionist state will not disappear, the one billion Muslims are not going to disappear, the Christians living in Palestine will not vanish, the world has strongly rejected the Zionist narrative that because the Europeans persecuted them, they have a right to persecute the Palestinians. How many Muslims and Christians are they going to kill? How many will they put in refugee camps? How many will they injure? And how many will they imprison? The Zionists have hijacked the Jewish religion but the Jews are becoming increasingly disillusioned from them. The end for all oppressive ideologies and regimes is the same, whether it is the regime of Pharaoh and Haman or the oppressive Zionist regime; they will be sooner or later be defeated by the masses.

Last fall, theMuslim Association of Canada (MAC) was also involved with the establishment of a new Mosque in Quebec City that also needed rezoning. InOttawa, MAC is also administering several venues, one of which is the Abraar school that madeinternational headlines because “two teachers (…) who praised a pupil’s essay about killing Jews with hand grenades” were suspended.
