Update on JDL protest at Palestine House « Sassy WireUpdate on JDL protest at Palestine House
March 28, 2010
On Saturday April 3, 2010, “Palestine House” will commemorate the 34th anniversary of “Land Day” with Mr. Abdul Bari Atwan. Talking about Iran’s nuclear capability on ANB Lebanese television on June 27, 2009, Abd Al-Bari Atwan, editor-in-chief of Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, said, “If the Iranian missiles strike Israel, by Allah, I will go to Trafalgar Square and dance with delight.” Video here.
On Friday, April 2 at 1:00pm JDL is scheduled to protest this event at Palestine House. Sassy has it on good authority that Palestine House is planning a counter protest to confront the pro-Israel crowd. Word has it that Meir Weinstein of the JDL has been contacted by police and is meeting with them tomorrow.
On a related note, the same source claims Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion hasn’t given up on trying to stop the JDL from protesting. Apparently Hazel contacted Rabbi Lawrence Englander of the Solel Congregation of Mississauga asking he publicly condemn the JDL protest. He refused, and even sent a letter to Palestine House opposing this speaker himself.
Friday should be interesting. If you live in the GTA and plan to attend the protest, please bring a video camera.
